Rehearsals & competitions

What does a typical rehearsal schedule look like?

Typically, rehearsals begin Friday evenings from 7-11pm. Saturday rehearsals are from 10am-10pm with two meal breaks, each being an hour and 15 minutes long. Sunday rehearsals are from 10am-5pm with a one hour and 15 minute long meal break. This rehearsal schedule is subject to change depending upon competition and travel schedules, rehearsal facility availability and other factors.

What is the rehearsal and competition policy?

As rehearsal time is limited throughout the season, attendance is of the utmost importance. Mandatory attendance policies for rehearsals and competitions are outlined in the member contract. Schedule conflicts should be reported by email to admin staff as soon as possible: attendance@resistanceindoor.org.

Is transportation provided to competitions?

Transportation is only offered to WGI World Championships. Members may opt-in for this transportation for $100.

Is housing provided?

Housing is only provided for designated overnight competitions out of state. Other accommodations will need to be arranged during rehearsal weekends and single day competitions. Members usually stay with other members, friends or family who live in and around the Tulsa area.

Are meals provided?

A portion of member fees will be used to provide some meals during the regular season, but the vast majority of meals, including experience camps and auditions, will not be provided. We have scheduled meal breaks with sufficient time allowed to buy food at local establishments, or you can bring your own food. Refrigeration is not available, so please prepare accordingly. Members will receive a Resistance-branded water bottle as part of their tour fees to help with hydration.

Fees

What are member fees?

Member fees are paid by individuals when a contract is offered to a performer, and are used to help fund the current season of competition. Similar to "tour fees" in DCI, these cover costs such as transportation, show design, uniforms, instruments, drum heads, sticks, mallets, instruction, and other items. Member fees also include an RIP jersey, footwear, and member dogtags for the season.

How much are member fees?

Resistance member fees for the 2025-2026 season were $2,400, and we expect a modest increase for 2027. This is before any fundraising or discounts are applied. A member has a down payment of $1,000 due at contract, and the remainder can be split over the course of the season in 4 monthly payments.

Are there fundraising opportunities to supplement member fees?

Yes -- merch sales from the Resistance website (all proceeds over cost go directly to individual member fees; the average member made $43 in the 2025 season, top fundraiser made $112), raffles, scholarships, and pledge-fundraiser incentives.

General

I'm a parent or someone who'd like to volunteer. How can I support Resistance?

Thank you for your interest! Resistance frequently needs drivers, equipment movers, prop builders, and other volunteers throughout the season. Email admin@resistanceindoor.org if you can help.

Can I march Drum Corps and still march with Resistance?

Yes! Our membership is full of talented performers who enjoy participation in both DCI and WGI. This places a larger responsibility on those members who do march in drum corps -- communication is key between both Resistance staff and drum corps staff about scheduling conflicts, including drum corps auditions and call-backs.

Can I march with Resistance while I'm still in high school?

We encourage performers to participate with their respective scholastic ensembles as mandated by WGI, if they exist at your school. Communication with your high school band director is incredibly important. No performer will march Resistance without permission from their high school program directors, if you have an existing program at your school.

Where can I find the Code of Conduct?

Every member and volunteer agrees to our Code of Conduct (PDF).
